Holsworthy Lions Speed Pool Tournament

The Holsworthy Lions annual Speed Pool Competition was held on Saturday 18th April.

There were entries from a lot of local pubs and a total of £1084 was raised on the night.

Highest Sponsorship was raised by the Village Inn.

Highest Team Score went to the Junction Inn.

Highest Individual Score went Tom Schiller at the Old Market Inn with 96 balls.

Highest Lady Score went Emma Anderson at the Old Market Inn with 56 balls.

Holsworthy Vintage Vehicle & Engines Rally Models and Collectors Exhibition

The annual Models and Collectors Exhibition was held at the Community College on Sunday 29th March.

It was organised by Bill Dymond and members of the vintage rally commitee

There was a large and varied selection of exhibits on display

Judging was done by the town Mayor,Mr David Smith, The Portreeve,Major Johns, and the Deputy Mayor, Mrs Becky Buckingham. Unfortunately I don’t have a list of the winners at present.

World Class Cabaret Evening

Holsworthy Rotary World Class Cabaret Evening

An evening of Entertainment was put on by the Rotary Club of Holsworthy at the Memorial Hall on Saturday 21st March.

It was organised by Ian Parker (aka Marvo The Magician) and raised funds for Cancer Research, The Marsden and The Kilimanjaro Malaria Charity.

Entertainment was provided by Sam and TJ, a musical duo, Colin “Fingers” Henry a very funny comedian and pianist, Simon King who did a very entertaining Freddy Starr type show and Pop Circus,comprising of Merlin the Magician and Sarah, who gave us a very fast moving and entertaining act

Papparazzi’s Party

On Friday 20th March we celebrated Rodney (Papparazzi) Parrish’s 60th Birthday at Holsworthy Memorial Hall.
There was a large turnout for this event with some guests travelling quite a distance to be there.
Musical entertainment was provided by Andrew Parrish, reliving his Disco days, and The James Gang, a live band from the Bideford area, specialising in an early 1980’s style.
Rodney was forbidden to use his camera but Sarah photographed all the guests and the Band and Chris went on the prowl with Rodney’s camera.
A very good time was had by all and I am sure several woke with thick heads the following morning.

I will add some photos in the next few days.

South Tetcott Hunt Meet at Blagdon Manor Hotel.

A South Tetcott Hunt meet was held at the Blagdon Manor Hotel, Ashwater at 11am on Saturday Morning 7th March.

The weather was overcast but dry. There were about 22 Riders and a good turnout of spectators at this event.

Refreshments were provided by the Blagdon Manor Hotel.

The Wurzels came to Holsworthy Memorial Hall on Saturday 24th January.

The event was well attended and everyone had a good time as can be seen from the photographs

Tetcott Hunt Meet at the Social Club.

A Tetcott Hunt meet was held at the Social Club on Saturday Morning 17th January.

The event was organised by Eddie Rowe, Russel Dymond, Brian Curtis and Alistair Cloak.
Food was prepared by Sam,the Social Club Stewardess. The Club also supplied Punch for the occasion

There was a good turnout of people to witness this event.

I took a walk around Derriton viaduct and along the Ruby Way to Lambs Lane and took a few photographs on the way.

The traditional Boxing Day meet was held in the square.

The weather was bright and sunny for the riders and hounds of Tetcott Hunt and there was a good turnout of people to witness this traditional event.

Sing Christmas at the White Hart

Sing Christmas was held Upstairz at the White Hart Hotel.

There was a live link to BBC Radio Devon Local Carol Event. Rev John Henry was in chage of proceedings. There were presents for the oldest and youngest people there, the youngest being Taylor Hutchings at 3½ months and the eldest was 87 years old.

A buffet was provided after by Jon and Tammy Hutchings and the whole event had a lovely family atmosphere.
